Engagments and heart attacks

Good news first...
My best friend since kindergarten is engaged! She has endured heartbreak after heartbreak in our 23 years of friendship, and finally, she's met a wonderful man who treats her like the princess that she is.
The sweet thing is, her fiance proposed to her in front of me because he knows how important I am to her! I was as surprised as she was! We had all gone to a hockey game together and went out to eat afterwards. So, there at Red Lobster, amidst the crab legs and empty dishes, he proposed. Sweetest thing ever. However, his ring choice left a lot to be desired.... simply because it was something that wasn't her style of jewelery. But the next day, he returned the first one and came back with something fantastic.
The only downer to the story is he is a Marine and he is currently deployed. He hasn't left the country yet, he is in California. He will actually be heading for the desert (Kuwait first then Iraq) in October. So, they are trying to decide if they want to get married this fall or wait until next year when he gets back. I figure I'll be playing the maid of honor bit come August or September. I'm so happy for her it's not even funny. It is so wonderful to see her happy.

Heart attacks... my brother in law had a heart attack last Thursday. It was pretty massive, but I think he's home now (I haven't heard for sure). He was at work Thursday and he started getting short of breath, sweating, arm hurting, etc. So they took him to the ER her in our hometown. The idiot of a doctor, judging by an EKG, said, no, I don't think it's a heart attack, you can go home. Thanks to my sister's medical training, she insisted they run the cardiac enzymes more than once, and they then sent him on to a bigger hospital, saying that in fact he did have a heart attack. The did the heart cath on Friday and he had one artery almost completely blocked (95-100%) which they put in stent in. Another artery was 30-40% blocked, which they are going to watch for the time being. And the Apex area of his heart (the tip of it) had sustained damage to 75% of it. And the dude wanted to send him home! Personally, I would sue that particular doctor, but that's just me. Because at that point, he hadn't signed anything saying that he wouldn't. Oh well. At least he seems to be doing ok now.
