Great news everybody!
I had an appointment with my cardiologist today and he agreed to close up the hole in my heart. YAY! Potentially off of the Plavix about 6 months after surgery! Yipee! One more horrible medication off my list.
So, everybody pray for me. The doctor was essentially supportive of whichever decision I made (fixing the hole or staying on medicinal therapy). But given that I have already had 2 strokes, I would much rather take the chance in reducing the risk further of having any more.
The procedure is relatively simple, I'll be awake the whole time. So, I'm looking forward to having this hole fixed. It's scheduled for October 8, so I'll be all better by my birthday! YAY!

Good! I was glad when you said you would be awake the whole time. That would be the only thing I would worry about. You will be in our prayers!
It's me Timpani, not Erik! And for the above post as well!
Great news!!! You can have a Plavix tossing party. LOL!
I'll keep your name on the prayer roll.
This is such exciting news! Woo hoo!!
you are sooooo nonchalant about heart surgery..."it's no big deal" indeed! well, hurrah for you! and you get to be awake? that is so awesome. if they are using a camera, you should ask if you can watch. when i had kidney stones removed, i was awake (not standard procedure, but i was pregnant, and so i opted for the alternative that was the least bad for the baby) and they let me watch the whole thing. it was so cool! anyway, good luck, we will definitly keep you in our prayers here in my little household!
Wow! Congratulations. How long will the recovery be? No worries prayer for you will be coming from Louisiana.
Thanks for your support guys! You have no idea how wonderful it is to have friends like you all!
I've had a similar procedure done before. When I was in the hospital in January, they had to go through the vein in my leg to send a camera into my brain. It was fantastic to be laying there watching pictures of the veins in my brain above my head.
You all have no idea how happy it makes me to be able to get this surgery done. It totally minimizes the risk of yet another stroke. I will be off of work only a week, which is great for both me (for the break) and for work (not too much time out right before year-end).
I'll keep you all posted! Thanks for the prayers!
Let us know how everything went! Thinking of you :)
You are in my prayers, Trisha! I'll join ya for your Plavix tossing party...:)
