Ok, so I don't do the "Black Friday" shopping. And this year was a perfect example why... a poor guy at Wal-Mart was trampled. Holy cow! For what I ask? To find a few deals? I think not.
But, I'll get off of that soapbox. I'm quite frustrated about it altogether. But anyway. I went shopping on Saturday with my best friend. I introduced her to a new store, a discount department store (kind of like TJ Maxx or Marshalls). She had never been there before and she was totally enthralled. Now, I am so anti-girl in the following statement... I hate to shop. When I get in the mood, it's fine. But in general, I truly detest it. Now, maybe if I were a size 2 and could find all the clothes I wanted I wouldn't have this problem, but since I am not a size 2, I don't enjoy it. Anyway. I took her shopping at this store. Now, when I first discovered this store, I was also very excited, because I bought a ton of clothes for next to nothing. However, never have I ever spent 3 HOURS in a single store at one time! 3 Hours!!!! I was ready to keel over by the time she was finally finished! I mean, I'm ok for about an hour... but 3?
Ok, girls... I know, I'm completely not girly am I? I'm missing a gene or something! First my husband can't deal with the fact that I'm not a "lovey dovey" person. I don't want to sit around staring into someone's eyes when there are other things to be done. I'm not one to cuddle... it irritates me. See, I'm missing some essential girl genes!!

don't be so hard on yourself! i know several girls who HATE to shop, and several guys who love it, one of them my dad, and none of them gay. and have you ever read the five love languages? seriously, get your hands on a copy and read it. it will open up all new vistas to your eyes and change your life. really. it will. ;) regardless, it's very enlightening.
oh yeah, and when i heard about the guy at walmart, and the pregnant lady who got trampled at the same place and ended up miscarrying, i was literally sick to my stomach. utterly revolted. not being a material girl myself (if i had managed to get robbed on thanksgiving, if that was the intention, the thief would have had some slim pickings indeed, lol!), i truly do not understand black friday madness. not even remotely. it's the epitome of stupid.
This is why I like to shop early, or online. Scary!
My mom does not like to shop, and she is not cuddly either, but I think after mothering four children with a bottomless reserve of patience she is definitely a girl!
My husband also like to shop! We went on a date a few months ago where we just wandered this outlet mall for 3-4 hours. I totally don't get the 3 hours in one store either. I like to shop at a lot of stores, for about 15 minutes each store. That would have to be some store for me to stay even an hour!
Ok, at least I'm not alone!
And Liz, I do have that book, I just haven't read it yet. I am apparently harboring some ill feelings toward that book. You see, I bought it before I got married in good faith that my husband and I would both read it. But, before that happened, all the proverbial crap hit the fan. So, I haven't been able to pick it up yet. But I'm working on it.
aw! that's too bad. don't think of it as a couples book, think of it as an understanding-how-you-work-better book. ;)
Thanks, Liz. That may just be the kick I need to pick it up.
lol! you're welcome. the almighty liz to the rescue!
ps my word verification was "pouts". for some reason, this strikes me as hilarious.
There are so many reasons that we're friends...
1. We both like fried sweet potatoes with A1 Steaksauce
2. We both hate shopping with Barnes and Noble being an exception.
3. We don't like to cuddle. Yuck! I need my three feet of personal space unless we're getting it on which we both know isn't happening (for me at least!). lol!
